As I am adding gradually my new works to my online gallery, let me present to you one of them.
Arno river has always been one of my favorite “models” (“always” here means “since I know it” 🙂 ). It crosses the city of Florence (Italy) from East to West, goes down all the way to Pisa and flows into the Mediterranean sea (it’s Ligurian or Tyrrhenian part – all depends on who draws the borders 🙂 ) in Marina di Pisa, which is a special place by itself, with its rocky stones confronting the sea line and winds roaming around the place in November…
And if one goes up the river, she will come to a wonderful Pontassieve where some beaver-like characters with shining fur can be seen swimming around just under the paved banks in the town center. And then after taking some turns, going first to the south, then back to the north, to the east and to the west, Arno finds its source somewhere in the mountains of the province of Arezzo (I just tracked in on the Google map to clarify where it actually starts ).
On this my painting (watercolor on paper, 34 x 24 cm) it’s an early spring when all colors are wonderfully light. This part of the river bank is a city park where people love to go jogging, walking their dogs, or take a stroll along the river. And I like just being there 🙂

(find it also in my gallery here)
It might not look like this – but actually this place is just two steps from a busy residential part of the city, with all its traffic, trains, four storey buildings, people drinking coffee and hurrying around on their errands.
I started painting this in the early spring of the last year (2018), right at this place with my easel. Then I put this from life snapshot into my drawer, where it sit “on hold” for more than a year. And then, already in the late (and cold) spring of 2019, when I was sorting out my “old” paintings, I decided to give it another touch.

And here are some photo views of Arno, here in Florence.
