Dalat is a mountain town in Central Vietnam (or one could say even “city” – it’s rather big). It’s quite a touristic place, in its central part, but quiet and homely in the outskirts. Once you get there (and you will need some locals’ help if you don’t speak a good command of Vietnamese!), you are surrounded by bursting green, countryside-looking homes, winding narrow paths, road-side cafes, and everyday life of people around.

My pieces presented here were made in that quiet periphery part.

A corner of a neighbor's house and a view down to the valley from a tiny side street two steps from my home there. / Watercolor on paper, 2018
This house, as you can see, was likely abandoned and in decay. Still it had its special beauty and brought a romantic flavor of what was there once before. So, it got its portrait. / Watercolor on paper, 2018

A neighbors’ garden across the street and view down to the valley (the opposite side) in a cloudy day. There, at my corner of residential area where I stayed, to the three of four sides from the street opened a view down to the green valley (with people’s gardens and trees) and then other surrounding hills.

All these three paintings you can find in my online gallery here – along with my other works from Vietnam.

And these next two are no longer with me – they both went away as gifts.

Rainy day in the garden / watercolor on paper, 2018 / Stayed as a gift with my very kind host, who was the garden owner. They say, it can rain for weeks in June but luckily, it was only March when I was there. Still cought some rainy days.
This is not Dalat - but a nature park in a countryside about an hour autobus ride away. Buses go from the city center, taking both tourists and locals. / watercolor on paper, 2018/ Went as a present to a good friend.

And to conclude this story, some photos from the real Dalat. Enjoy and feel being really there!
